Introducing our New Vicar and his Family

Ian Richard Whitehead, born 5th Feb 1963…yes!  56 when we join you!

Married to Christine in 1985 so we have over 33 years together.

Christine is previously a Clerical Officer in Education Dept of Warwickshire.  She enjoys keeping me in hand, Extreme Scrabble, drinking my coffee and generally working in the background of church.

We have two daughters:

Becky [30] living with Rikki in Nottingham studying Radiography at Derby Uni.

Amy, [26] living with us and moving with us to Crich.  Unemployed but works at writing a fantasy novel with digital artwork.  An unpublished writer and artist.

I left school at 16 and entered an Engineering Apprenticeship with Alfred Herberts following which I did a years Teams work with British Youth for Christ in Birmingham working with Drug Addicts, Youth Clubs, Unemployed and none-church based mission.

Then I worked for a number of years, back in engineering, in a sub-contract machine shop in Coventry followed by cutter grinding for Clarkson Tools.

In 1992 following training for readership I was instead I was sent to a Bishops Selection Panel and was selected for ordination training for three years at St John’s Nottingham.  Placements in a rural church followed by a year in Nottingham Prison.

In 1995 I was ordained and did a Curacy [on the job training] one in Rugby and one in Whitnash, Leamington Spa during which time I oversaw an interregnum.

My first post was, and is, at Rolleston on Dove with Anslow near Burton upon Trent and five years ago added Tutbury Priory Church.

My hobby is Woodturning and Pen-making in particular, coupled with making and drinking Coffee, cooking, reading novels and I’m a bit of a film-buff.

I say we are looking forward to joining you is an understatement, although this is tinged with sadness at leaving a wonderful group of churches, we have shared so much with for the past 19 years.

We now have a new phase of ministry to look forward to and Jesus is at the centre of this as he has been for many, many years now.

We look forward to inviting you to meet us, Chris + Ian over the coming months and to sharing with you an amazing journey in faith.
