Would You Like to Be a Careline Volunteer ?

Careline has been one of Crich’s great success stories so far. The service has gone from strength to strength and now provides a real lifeline for many people who are housebound, lonely or who just fancy an occasional chat. Can you imagine a situation where you live by yourself and have days when you don’t speak to anyone at all ? Well Careline tries to remedy that and now operates every day of the week. A team of volunteers phone people who have either requested calls or have been referred by one of the local agencies. The funny thing is that although initially this operates as a volunteer phoning someone on their “list”, it very soon becomes two friends chatting to each other. To operate successfully lots of volunteers are needed. No one is asked to commit to more hours than they wish, everyone can choose the slots they prefer, some people can only spare a few hours a month, so it is really not a burden. Do give us a call if you think that you could join the team, you won’t regret it and who knows, you might just meet some new friends yourself !
