Diocese of Derby – Coronavirus (COVID-19) Guidance 18 March 2020

"Our desire is that where possible, and in line with the guidelines, our church buildings will remain open and places of prayer. We will continue to be people of hope and confidence as we live a different pattern of prayer and worship."

Copied below are the key points:

  • "Public worship will have to stop with immediate effect. Our usual pattern of Sunday services and other mid-week gatherings must be put on hold. What we hope will continue will be a simple pattern of daily and weekly prayer, which a few people might be able to share with you, observing the physical distance recommendations."

  • "Wedding banns: Please note that you cannot currently read banns as there is no principal service."

  • "Weddings can take place, provided you follow all the national guidance and hygiene measures. BUT they can only be attended by a small number of people, who must be able to follow physical distancing guidelines. People need to remain two metres apart from each other."

  • "Funerals – at present the same guidance as with weddings and baptisms applies to funerals."

  • "Baptisms should be postponed wherever possible, following the national advice"

If you need further advice, please contact Ian.

As things are moving very quickly can i now state, ALL meetings and ALL Servres are no longer essential an will not be going ahead.

Crich church will remain unlocked as far as is possible for individual use.

Follow national and local advice, look out for the neighbour and stranger alike.

This is a time now for those of us who can to be of service to others, those of you who can't or shouldn't stay in prayer.

If you can, go onto facebook for church news and there we will do our best to support those we can in our communities.

Crich community is beginning to put something together, I hope we can extend this to S-Wingfield.

There is a dedicated mobile number being set up by St mary's which I'll get to you when i can.

Stay safe, stay sensible and stay in prayer,

God bless,
